COVID 19 UPDATE
COVID 19 Statement about the Custom Food Lab Art and Research Programme
Due to COVID 19, Custom has not been able to hold any events or make public-facing work as part of its arts and research programme during 2020.
We have, however, been grateful recipients of an Emergency Grant from Arts Council England meaning we have been able to survive this unsettling period in our journey. Thanks to this investment from Art Council England we have been able to develop work remotely, creating the Speculative Landscapes collective and instigating an international Food Art Research Network. This also allowed us time to seek out more funding to give new life to our work “on the ground” in Folkestone, which is currently focused on our community food growing project through which we’re trying to co-create a network of knowledge exchange and growing spaces across schools, residential care homes and public spaces.
We are still continuing to work with artists and have big plans for 2021, when we will finally be able to share the work we have been developing publicly through a series of collaborations, community engagements and symposia. In the meantime, we continue to welcome volunteers to join the Locavore Growing Project.
Like many other small and independent organisations we find ourselves in a very difficult situation as the continuation of our wider work relies on audience attendance. If you’re in a position to support our not for profit objectives, you can become a CUSTOM FOOD LAB supporter.
We wish all the best of luck and health to you and your loved ones.
